My name is Fenneke Wolters-Sinke. Fenfolio is my artist name; Fen is how I like to be called and folio means “a sheet of any written or printed material”.
Originally from The Netherlands, I’m a visual artist living and working in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. I initially started as a photographer, running photography classes and managing a photo library until 2010 when it was sold. Since then I have been developing my art & design skills via various part-time and short courses at Grays School of Art in Aberdeen, Edinburgh Printmakers and Bridge House Art in Ullapool. I like experimenting with various mediums such as printmaking, digital processes, painting, drawing, papercutting, 3D structures and artists’ books. I’m inspired by the textures, patterns, colours, tones and shapes found in nature while on a sea kayaking, ski touring or hillwalking adventure. My artworks have been exhibited in local exhibitions, the National Open Print Exhibition in London, the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh and a few locations in Denver, USA, curated by Abecedarian Artists’ Books. In 2018 I received the Visual Arts and Craftmaker Award for a non-toxic printmaking residency in Massachusetts, USA.
As an art tutor I’m regularly being commissioned by art galleries and art groups to run art, craft and Ipad workshops throughout Aberdeenshire and further afield. I love helping others discovering new techniques and gaining confidence in exploring their own creativity.
